A Crime?

I know someone who will remain unnamed, who racked up tens of thousands of dollars in credit card debt using twenty-some credit companies. That person subsequently died. The life insurance and remaining retirement benefits went to the heirs. The credit card companies had to "lump" it. I call that stealing. Yes, the credit card companies bear some fault in allowing the person credit, perhaps even pushing their cards on a bet that they would make money on the interest from late payments. This crime was not prosecuted, and probably not even recognized as stealing.
Our federal government and many state governments have accrued trillions of dollars in debt. There is no hope of paying it off. We cannot even imagine what one trillion is. What is of even more concern is that the monetary systems world wide are not backed with anything but promises. We no longer have a commodity backed currency like gold to make the promises accountable. I am obviously not astute in economics, but I "smell a rat." There has to be something illegal about what is going on with endless deficit spending. In the absence of law to define it as illegal, it is at the least amoral.
So what? Along with abortion, no-fault divorce, illegal immigration and other legalized sin, we as a nation, not only need to repent in word, but stop allowing these sins to flourish. We need to obey and enforce the laws on the books, and reverse the laws that make sin legal. Perhaps then God will hear our cries for help and again bless our nation.
