Like Paul continues in his letter to the Philippians, I too have seen times of want and times of plenty, times of strife and times of peace, times of abuse and times of praise, etc. That seems to be the character of life. I think that the times of difficulty are the most valuable. It is easy to be content/happy when everything is going well. Hard times have given me practice in being happy/content within myself rather than reacting to circumstances. I have LEARNED that with God I can get through any trial. Having done the best I can to be at peace with God and with other humans, I know God is an active participant in all that comes about in my life. What better CEO can there be!
Contentment, however, is not putting a blindfold on and sitting in a rocking chair. We at times will be enlisted in the battle against Satan. Our job may be hard, even dangerous, but even then with the purpose clear, we can confidently carry out our duty assured that God is the victor.
My hope for all that read this is that you too are learning or have learned that contentment comes from trusting God in all things. He is more faithful than any person - even ourselves!

You know, I think I prefer the blindfold and rocking chair. However, I've done a bit of my part. Again, today I wrote an email to my senator about the CPSIA. I have to work at trusting God when I get frustrated about these things.
